Pop the cork! We’re on our way!

Day 0 – Friday

Here’s the big picture for our journey: transatlantic flights to Paris where we continue via air to Bordeaux. After a week in old Aquitaine, we will take the TGV (high-speed train), back to Paris for two nights before returning to the states.

The Plan. Things change.

That’s the plan. But things change. (More on that tomorrow.)

Truth be told, more than half of our band of wine gypsies have already arrived in France. Peg and the Rosenbergers left two days ago for a time-change acclimation holiday in Biarritz on the Atlantic coast. Dan and Mary Greathouse went early to prepare the way (and Europe!) for our impending invasion. They all eventually rendezvoused in Biarritz.

And what of the Final Four? Ella and Fong have arrived at Dulles and are waiting for their Parisian flight. Rob and I are comfortably ensconced in Newark waiting to board our flight this evening, feeding both our electronic devices and ourselves in one of the largest and most crowded United Lounge I’ve ever seen.

We’re off!
